Shiva Thorsell

Clinical Psychologist

 

Shiva Thorsell is a clinical psychologist with over 25 years of experience in specialized mental health care (GGZ). In addition to her clinical work, she also teaches and supervises postgraduate training for health psychologists.

Shiva is an expert in therapeutic approaches such as Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (SP), Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP), Body-Oriented Mentalizing (LMBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

As a co-founder of Senz, alongside Prof. Dr. Rutger Engels and Dr. Karlijn Kindt, Shiva plays a key role on the board, shaping the vision and direction of the organization.

Karlijn Kindt

Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Karlijn Kindt is a clinical psychologist with over 15 years of experience in mental health care (GGZ). In addition to her clinical work, she also teaches and supervises postgraduate training for health psychologists.

Karlijn specializes in therapeutic approaches frameworks such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (SP), and Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP).

As a co-founder of Senz, alongside Prof dr. Rutger Engels and Shiva Thorsell, Karlijn also plays a key role on th board, shaping the vision and direction of the organization.

Jasper Nuninga

Health Psychologist

Dr. Jasper Olivier Nuninga is a health psychologist with extensive experience in specialized mental health care (GGZ). In addition to his clinical work, he also is a researcher at the University Medical Center Groningen, teaching in clinical psychology training programs, and working as a supervisor.

Jasper’s expertise includes Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Jasper has been involved in the early development of Senz.

Bart Struijk

Social Psychiatric Nurse

Bart Struijk is a social psychiatric nurse with over 35 years of experience in various fields of mental healthcare. He is an experienced practitioner specializing in identifying the underlying dynamics and life events contributing to mental health problems.

He works from a systemic approach, recognizing that psychological issues often occur within a broader context, where involving system members can be an integral part of treatment.

Kim Wolvetang

Health Care Psychologist

Kim Wolvetang is a licensed Healthcare Psychologist with extensive experience in mental healthcare. She uses a variety of treatment approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Schema Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).

Due to her background in medical psychology, she incorporates the interaction between physical and mental health into her treatments.

Liza Heuvels

Psychomotor Therapist

Liza Heuvels is a psychomotor therapist with experience in specialized mental healthcare. She integrates various therapeutic frameworks, including Running Therapy, Mindfulness, PMT (psychomotor therapy), and EMDR. In 2025, she will begin her master’s in psychomotor therapy (PMT).

John Jäger

Health Care Psychologist

John is a registered psychologist with experience in specialized mental health care. He uses an integrative and person-centered approach, focusing on strengthening self-image, self-acceptance, and personal growth.

John has experience with LGBTQ+ issues and is trained in and utilizes various treatment methods, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), and Schema Therapy. He offers treatment in Dutch, English, and German.

Farida Lamrini

Operations manager

Farida Lamrini is Operations Manager at Senz. With more than twenty years of experience in healthcare and mental health services, she brings extensive expertise in operational management, organizational development, and leadership. She is passionate about connecting people, improving processes, and creating an environment in which professionals can make their strongest contribution to delivering the highest quality care to clients.

Julia van Alphen

Health Care Psychologist

Julia van Alphen is a health care (GZ) psychologist with over 10 years of experience in mental healthcare (GGZ). She works from a trauma-informed perspective using various therapeutic frameworks, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

Aleid Fleer

Health Care Psychologist

Aleid is a licensed Healthcare Psychologist (GZ-psychologist) with extensive experience in mental health care. She works from a person-centred approach, placing strong emphasis on the therapeutic relationship. In her treatments, she integrates elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, and various trauma-focused interventions. She has gained experience in, among other settings, a specialist trauma treatment centre and addiction care services.

Marike van Hoeke

Therapist, mindfulness trainer, and EFT-counselor in training

Marike van Hoeke is a therapist, mindfulness trainer, and EFT counselor in training with over 20 years of experience in mental healthcare. She also works as a mental health nurse practitioner (POH-GGZ) at a general practice.

She has experience with various therapeutic approaches, including body-oriented Mentalization-Based Therapy (L-MBT), acceptance commitment therapy (ACT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and mindfulness-based interventions such as MBCT, and MSC (Mindful Self-Compassion).

Thomas Brouwers

Health Care Psychologist

Thomas Brouwers is a health care (GZ) psychologist with broad experience in specialized mental healthcare as well as scientific research. His research focused on optimizing trauma treatment for individuals with PTSD.

He is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR). He takes a transdiagnostic approach, integrating elements from CBT, EMDR, ACT, and Mindfulness.

Mieke Veenhof

Front- and backoffice

Mieke completed her studies in Social Care, with additional training in Social Work, and spent more than six years working in elderly care on a psychogeriatric ward in a coordinating role.

She then transitioned into a position as a secretary and is now working in mental healthcare administration within the GGZ (Dutch mental health services), where she recently started her current role.

Jasper van Oort

Psychiatrist

Jasper van Oort is a psychiatrist with extensive experience in specialized mental healthcare. He did his PhD on a thesis on the brain’s stress response, which was a collaboration between Radboud Umc and the Donders Institute.

He has extensive expertise in pharmacotherapy, including the pharmacological aspects of Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP). Additionally, he applies various therapeutic approaches, such as Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) and Mindfulness. Jasper was involved in the early development of Senz.

Christine Rop

Psychomotor Therapist

Christine is a psychomotor therapist with extensive experience in mental healthcare. In her treatments, she combines various frameworks and methods in a way that suits the individual and the situation. These include systems theory, cognitive behavioral therapy, humanistic approaches, and body- and experience-oriented approaches.

Methodologies she employs include movement-oriented, sensory integrative therapy, mindfulness, breathing and relaxation techniques, running therapy, play, and experience-based methods.

Marleen Spies

Nurse

Marleen Spies is a clinical nurse director with over 17 years of experience in an academic hospital.
With her extensive knowledge and experience of nursing procedures, she supports the KAP team, where she takes care of the administration of the infusion therapy. She works from a people-oriented vision with an eye for the entire care process.

Marsha de Heus

Psychologist

Marsha de Heus is a psychologist with experience in specialized mental healthcare. She has expertise in therapeutic approaches such as Running and Walking Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), and Mindfulness.

Marjolein is a licensed Healthcare Psychologist (GZ-psycholoog) at our practice.

Rutger Engels

Professor

Rutger Engels is a full professor of Developmental Psychopathology at Erasmus University Rotterdam, a board member at Stichting de Verre Bergen, and a co-founder and board member at Senz. His role at Senz focuses on optimizing treatment programs through data collection and collaboration with academic and societal partners.

Rutger plays a role in bridging research and practice to improve mental healthcare and make innovative treatment methods more widely available.

Rens Hooisma

Health Care Psychologist

Rens is a licensed Healthcare Psychologist (GZ-psycholoog) at our practice.

Ietje van der Schot

Psychomotor therapist

Ietje van der Schot is a psychomotor therapist with extensive experience in specialized mental health care (SGGZ). She has experience with mentalization-based therapy and, within PMT, enjoys working with both body-oriented and movement-based approaches. Her expertise also includes yoga, mindfulness, and boxing.

Marleen ter Avest

Psychologist

Marleen ter Avest has extensive experience as a psychologist, mindfulness, and compassion (teacher) trainer, supervisor, and researcher. In 2021, she obtained a PhD from Radboud Umc’s Expertise Center for Mindfulness, focusing on the mechanisms of mindfulness and compassion in individuals with recurrent depression.

Marleen has experience with therapeutic frameworks such as Mindfulness (MBSR/MBCT/MBCT-L), Compassion (MBCL), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).

Saskia Ohlmeier

Nurse practioner mental health care

Saskia is a Nurse Practitioner in Mental Health Care (GGZ), she has over 10 years of experience in specialized mental health services. She provides integrated treatments focused on, among other things, lifestyle and the interaction between body and mind.

She works with behavioral and pharmacological interventions and has experience with various therapeutic approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and body-oriented Mentalization-Based Therapy (L-MBT). She also incorporates elements of mindfulness into her work.

Maike Kramer

Health Care Psychologist

Maike is a licensed healthcare psychologist with extensive experience in specialist and tertiary mental health care. In her previous work, she has, among other things, focused on a transdiagnostic approach to assessing and treating a wide range of psychological complaints. She enjoys working from a place of personal connection to support an individual’s personal growth, and provides therapy in both Dutch and English.

She is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and has extensive training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR, practitioner level).

Yke de Boer

Health Care Psychologist

Yke de Boer is a health care (GZ) psychologist with extensive experience in specialized mental healthcare. She has expertise in applying Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Mentalization-Based Therapy (MBT). Yke has also worked in (neuro)rehabilitation.

Melissa Overbeek Boers

Psychomotor Therapist

Melissa has extensive experience in mental health care. She works as a psychomotor therapist at Senz.

Laurien Versteegh

Front- and backoffice

Laurien works for the front- and backoffice and is involved in scheduling and planning. She also contributed to the furnishing and interior design of the practice.

Christa Bos

Front- and backoffice

Christa completed her training as a mental health nurse and worked for twelve years in mental health care as a nurse and case manager. She then transitioned to healthcare administration within the mental health sector, where she has gained over 25 years of experience in both front-office and back-office roles.

Mieke de Jong

Psychologist

Mieke de Jong is a psychologist with several years of experience in specialized mental healthcare. She conducted research on individuals with anxiety and trauma complaints and was a trainer at Maastricht University. Mieke works with various therapeutic frameworks, including ACT, CBT, and body-oriented Mentalization-Based Therapy (L-MBT).

Linette Konings

Dietitian

Linette is a dietitian with extensive experience in mental health care. She specializes in eating disorders and underlying psychological issues, and has worked in specialized TopGGZ departments. Linette has completed additional training in motivational interviewing, eating and nutrition disorders, and holds a minor in addiction studies. She also has broad experience working with individuals dealing with anxiety and depression.
